CIC 935-938

3/7/2021

Martini, "Augustinus erweckt"

CIC  935 (Cont’d)

This is a spot to examine common practice with the aim of rectifying the intention. The transporting the MBS to a chapel for the purpose of a time of Eucharistic adoration there, as on a retreat, comes to mind. The abuse of running other errands while on a communion call also comes to mind.

CIC 936

This canon limits the number of locations within a religious house or house of piety where the MBS can be reserved to just the principle church or oratory, unless—for a just reason—the bishop gives another permission.

This calls to mind the permission required for priests to reserve the MBS in their house in addition to the Church.

CIC 937

This canon promotes the adoration of the MBS on the part of the faithful nearby to a place where it is reserved. The church where the MBS is reserved is to be opened for at least some hours every day. The canon concedes that grave reasons to the contrary exclude its applicability.

How many hours is my church open daily for adoration of MBS? The people have a right to it. The MBS has a right to it.

CIC 938

This canon is divided into five paragraphs. It deals with the question of the tabernacle, its location in the church, its construction and the security associated with it. It resembles the corresponding paragraphs in the GIRM.
